I will be taking a break from singing for a while but wanted to say thank you to each and everyone of you who has come to my shows since I started singing in SL. I have a LOT going on in RL at the moment and can't commit to regular shows while I am doing some valuable life-changing.
I will miss singing and will certainly miss entertaining you... but here is to bigger and better things. My equipment is all packed up for now so I am officially on a break! I will be around in SL from time to time and hope to catch other people's shows for a change, instead of running around trying to keep up with myself. Have a wonderful April, and I will see you around! Lots of love, Aura x

Enjoy and please leave comments! Feels strange to have been in this virtual world for 6 years. It's been a rollercoaster of experiences, first with The Artiste and doing cabaret and now singing. I have met some wonderful people along the way and formed family bonds that are stronger than the ones I had in RL. I feel I am a better person because of all of it. So thank you to everyone who has made my day brighter in even the smallest way. Thank you to those of you who have put obstacles in my way and made me fight harder for what I want.
This is me trying to give back. May of you know that I send out healing on a regular basis to people who need it. I have made a healing bracelet which I am giving away to people, and you can pass copies on to your friends and family too. I will have the box rezzed at my shows and at some point I will put it up on MP too. If anyone would like to put a vendor out in their store or club just let me know. You don't have to wear it, you can keep it in your inventory, just unpack it and read the note card which explains everything. I want to spread this far and wide in SL and make us all part of a huge healing superconductor! You don't have to believe ;) And if you send your thoughts to everyone who has the bracelet then you can be sure that intention will come around and find you again! Pay it forward! <3 Love you all! I guess I can't deny I was a child of the Eighties, even though I managed a second teenage in the Naughties :P For me it was a real emergence into nightlife and having a really good time and my first involvement with bands and music, so there are a lot of happy memories. When I walked into Coffee's the other day and saw what he had created I was thrilled. I felt like I had just walked onto the set of The Tube (Google it, Millenials!) To me, the 80's was New Romantics, some very silly pop and the start of the Gothic movement so it was many layered. There were some of the most iconic movies ever made and I spent all my Friday nights in a club in the North-East, called The Kirk. I think we spent all our time during the week making our outfits for Friday night. I learned to DJ there and we had some great bands performing there. I probably opened my own hole in the ozone layer with the amount of Ellnett hairspray I used on my backcombed hair. Not to mention there was a certain amount of deforestation accounted for thanks to the amount of eyeliner pencils we went through. There may have been a lot of fluff music in the 80's, but it also produced a lot of enduring talent and some beautiful songs. Trying to pull together a set of songs to sing for my set was hard because there was so much I had to leave out. However this does leave at lot for future 80's shows! I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Coffee's...maybe even more than usual. Miss Longtail took the stage after me and did a wonderful set, probably one of her best. She too came dressed for the occaision and you can see how cute she looked. I was back at Coffee's again on Friday and Sunday, to see Coffee perform and then Rick Blaisdale. If you have not heard Coffee perform then shame on you! As well as being an all round lovely bear-cat-person, whether talking or singing, he has a voice that is very more-ish! His versions of well known songs always manage to sound more attractive than the originals. Our precocious twins, Britnee & Whitney, managed to convince Uncle Coffee to break with the 80's and sing "Let it Go" from Frozen. He went for it in Coffee-acoustic style and we all loved it. On Sunday I managed to sneak in and catch Rick's show. he is usually on too late for me so I couldn't miss this one. We had a really fun time sending him requests. When I got there, the twins and Machka were already on stage, with Britnee on a tiny grand piano and Whitney drumming up a storm. I ended up on stage playing double-bass and it became the family jam-session when Coffee arrived and got his saxaphone out. When the next act failed to show I volunteered to do a fill in (even though I swore I was on holiday, haha!) as long as everyone stayed on stage! We all had such a good time. I have a feeling that this will not be the last time we end up with everyone on the stage ;) If you havent been to check out the new stage at Coffee's yet, then get your ass along there pronto and check out the amazing decor. You know that you will always get a warm welcome and fun memories are guaranteed.
Follow their adventures, Here on Facebook Or drop in and pay them a visit Here at Tharu Well I think we pulled off quite a coup on Friday. it was certainly one of the most enjoyable evenings I have spent in SL in a long time. I finally lived out my fantasy as a cocaine-fuelled, New York Disco Queen with DJ Sparda doing his best John Travolta (sans chin-bum).
So many people turned up in their best 1970's gear and thew themselves into the immersive experience. I designed the club specially to recreate the feel of Studio 54, the seminal NY Disco club frequented by the likes of Mick Jagger and Andy Warhol. Lots of glitter and glam and empty champagne bottles. Sparda played a warm-up set and then I did an hour of classics -Michael Jackson, Sister Sledge, Chic, ABBA and Gloria Gaynor to name a few. Sparda then took back over with a list of groove tunes from the 1970's. We had originally intended it to be a 2 hour event but I think it was more like 3 and a half in the end as no-one wanted to go home :D Given that we have such short attention spans in SL, I think that says a lot about the quality of entertainment ;) I had a special appearance from my SLebrity stalker David Dawson (Mr Pianoman himself) who engaged in a little photobombing. Sparda was up dancing on the decks at one point. Good job that white suit hides the powder marks..although my faux fur could probably have hidden the gross national product of Bolivia if it was real, haha... I did seem to be wearing less at the end of the night than the beginning...but then typical Friday night when we were young, eh? A huge shout-out to Sparda Stormcrow for being my wing-man and playing such a blinding set! Also, thank you so much to everyone who came to take part, wouldnt have been the same without you! We had so much fun and we are well up for doing it again. Thank you to Ana Valderes and Sparda for extra photos. Also to TPO (David Edwards) for a great video clip (curse you youtube for your sound flattening codecs!) Here's to the next time we ride the groove train back to the 70's...! On Tuesday I had the pleasure to be sandwiched between two very sexy lady singers in SL at The Jitterbug Club. Katia Portugal and I have been going back-to back for a while there and she is so sweet to stay on and take part in my set. We have had some incredibly funny times. However, when Thomas told me that he had booked Lisa Brune to sing after me too, I was doing my very own jitterbug in my seat. Lisa and I have worked together many times at Sinner's Burlesque and it is always a thrill.
If you are not familiar with The Jitterbug Club, you have really been missing out on a little treasure (see video below). I loved the place the minute I set eyes on it. Thomas Etzel (owner) has probably the best collection of mesh figures I have seen in anyone place. His band is superb and its always an extra little frisson to get up and sing with them behind you. So Katia was up on stage and in full flow when I got there. She did a superb cover of "One" by U2 and then followed it up with Aerosmiths' "Janie's Got A Gun". Somehow her idea of working everyone's names into the song turned into something about banana guns...don't ask...which then meant she had to sing a banana song and before you know it the club was filled with banana avatars and we were all crying laughing. Thomas even brought out his chimp hat. As if that was not funny enough she then did a version of "Touch Me" by Samamtha Fox using a voice modulator that made her sound like a chipmunk on Helium. By this time I don't think there was a dry seat in the house. KUDOS KATIA! Considering all of this it was a miracle that I had enough breath left to sing given that I had been hysterical for at least half an hour. Larry took on the role of my one-cat Pep Squad and I think I managed to hold it together long enough...well until Lisa arrived and the local chat moved on to underwear. One of these days I will learn not to read local chat! Lisa as always was sublime. I kind of zone out a bit when she is on stage because I am just listening to her voice rather than the songs. She is so expressive, it's almost like listening to an instrument instead of a voice. I did pick out a lovely rendition of a song called "End of our Days" and also a very sensual version of "Wicked Games". When I hear a lot of singers doing that breathy pseudo-sexy voice it kind of leaves me cold, but Lisa has a very visceral and earthy quality to it that works. Plus you can always tell that she is backing it up with genuine emotion, much in the way that Katia fills her songs with her passion for the energy of music. It was a pretty excellent and entertaining 3 hours for me. By the time it was over I was not only tired, but my ribs were aching from laughing. I don't think you can ask more than that. Katia, Lisa and I are at Jitterbug every two weeks on a Tuesday. Next time round (23rd May) Thomas is planning an outdoor event.. Wait! Did I not mention there is a whole outdoor thing too? I'm trying to persuade him that it should be our very own SecondLife Glastonbury...(no mud though!) See you there! Taxi to The Jitterbug Club Watch the video latest offering...it's been a while :)
You can find it Here Thank you for all the lovely comments so far ! Yesterday I got to open the new stage at Coffee's... It is always such a buzz to be the first up on a new set. So I took my whiteboard and my Wormhole theory and went to work. The place was a blaze of green flashing lights and I made sure to test the radioactivity levels and make sure there was minimum toxic danger :D It being all very scientific I slipped a few new numbers into the set in honour of Coffee's wonderful work. "Weird Science", "She Blinded Me With Science" and "Atomic" of course. We had a bit of fun trying to find Doc's Flux Capacitor...I might just have forgotten to mention that I confiscated it to try and stop him messing with it again...his dementia is getting worse and we can't risk any more paradoxical temporal accidents. As I was singing there was a clock counting down behind me and we ran out of time right at the end of the set. The stage exploded just as I finished singing "Radioactive"...great timing!
As always, such an fun experience. The Atomic Stage will be up for another 2 weeks so watch out in events for a chance to go experience it for yourself. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Tharu/93/144/24 I was singing at Coffee's Music Venue yesterday and got to use the brand new cheese and wine stage. There were some very interesting songs along the lines of "Don't Cry for me Gorgonzola". I had been hoping to work a few more in such as "In the Brie Small Hours of the Morning" or "The Gouda Life" but recent time shifts meant we were all a bit rushed yesterday. However we did have a fun time. If you get the chance to pop along to one of the concerts, please do and check out the decor. Coffee not only decorates the stage, he transforms the whole club. A month back we had a wonderful Arabian theme. The last one was absolutely astounding with a night time city-scape. There was even traffic driving around and a spaceship buzzing the club. Check out the photos below. Every two weeks it's like a complete installation and just pure magic.
